AARP Launches New Campaign to Recognize Concerns of Caregivers

Beginning this Thursday, AARP and the Ad Council are launching a series of public service announcements that recognize the struggles of the more than 42 million Americans who provide consistent care for aging family members. The campaign shows family caregivers silently screaming as they face the physical, financial and emotional challenge of caring for their parents and grandparents.

The public service announcements direct viewers to AARP’s new website, which offers web chats with care-giving experts, online support groups, and legal documents. The site also features a new “Prepare to Care” brochure with to-do checklists for families new to care giving. (To watch the ads and read the full story, visit: CBSNews.com.)

At ASSI, we applaud ARRP’s effort to shed light on the needs of so many Americans who provide countless hours of support to their aging parents, while often working fulltime jobs and raising families of their own. It’s important for these family caregivers to know that there is support out there and they don’t have to do it alone.

We encourage seniors and their families to plan ahead for their future care-giving needs. Our True Freedom membership plans offer adult homecare and daycare services provided by fully licensed, bonded and insured caregivers. Our caregivers not only enable seniors to live safely and independently in their homes, but also provide the support that family caregivers desperately need.
